New User - El Capitan + Tribler 7.2 = Crash

Just downloaded Tribler (version 7.2) for the first time. Mac 4.1, El Capitan, lots of RAM and HDD space. The install was uneventful. When I tried to start Tribler, El Capitan complained it wasn’t signed by a registered developer but I got past that with only a little fumbling.
Now when I start Tribler, within seconds of seeing the ‘loading’ screen with the orange gears I get a system dialog saying “Tribler quit unexpectedly” and offering to ignore, report or reopen. The gears window will stay open with the gears turning for at least ten minutes.

Can anyone see what’s going on here?

The abbreviated report:

@Ambrose_M Thank you for reporting. We had this issue reported in the past as well but we could not reproduce this issue with our test machines. I suspect that this has to do with privacy/permission settings in Mac.

We could create a custom build for you to test if you’re willing to help us fix this issue.

Hi there! Im afraid that i have the same issue with the app.

Any advice of what should i do? Macbook Pro, High Sierra here. Regards.

Same thing with new install on Mac 10.14.4 beta.
After a few seconds I get the Problem Report popup although Tribler continues with the loading gears in the background.

Happy to try a test version…

PS clicking OK or Retry on the Problem Report popup just leaves the Loading gears grinding away!

@S.Pan-TUDelft
Thanks for your response.
Yes, I am willing to help test a ‘fixed’ build or two. Either email it to me or let me know where to DL it.

Same issue with Tribler 7.2.1

I see the same as jeff - 7.2.1 behaves the same as 7.2
