Error: Missing msvcr90.dll in 6.5.1?

Hey all. I"ve been using 6.4.3 for some time now and when I decided to check for an update the other day 6.5.1 had just been released a few hours earlier. Awesome. So I downlaoded and instaled but when I tried to start it it said It couldn’t start because msvcr90.dll was missing. The file is actually in my computer in several instances including Tribler directory but from reading my understanding was it needs to be in C:\windows\system32 so i put a copy there then got another error.

I’m running and AMD Athlon x64 dual core 6000+ (old I know but works for stuff like this)
Win XP SP3

Anyways I uninstalled and re-installed 6.4.3 and it works again but i’d really like the new update. Any idea what it could be?

I am in the same situation. Trying to install Tribler on windows XP. Same error "missing msvcr90.dll"
I noticed that, since today, at the download page is not mencioned anymore that Tribler is compatible with windows XP… why?
In the case that Tribler will be not able to use with windows XP from now, where can I download the version 6.4.3 that Anxiety uses without problems?

Windows XP hasn’t had support nor security updates since 2014. It’s a really bad idea to be running XP on anything connected to the internet.

If you have an older computer, I would suggest installing a lightweight linux distro like xubuntu.

We have to focus our very limited resources on supporting the major OS versions. We can’t support Windows versions older than 7, sorry.

All our releases from the last years can be found here, but only the latest stable is supported, and as people migrate to more recent versions that may contain protocol updates and new features, older Tribler versions will gradually stop to be able to talk to their more up to date peers.
