Spectrum/TimeWarner email warning

Hello, I’ve been using Tribler for over a year now… maybe even 2 years!
This is the first time I’ve gotten an email warning:

It has been brought to our attention that your Internet service was recently used to improperly copy or share copyrighted content such as music, movies, video or software using Peer-to-Peer or Torrenting software.

Has any Tribler users gotten the same message from Spectrum recently?

We also go to https://solarmovie.sc to stream content. Perhaps that triggered this warning? We haven’t been using any tool to access that site. Just a browser.

Thanks,
SkippyV

Use ipleak.net and/or doileak.com.

You could have a webrtc leak from the browser.( Chrome, firefox have these leaks unless you use a specific entension to block the leak)

go to privacytools.io for better information

I got more information from their Security Operations at charter.com. They directed me to https://ccicopyrightalerts.twcable.com which said that The Last Airbender movie was the cause of the alarm. This movie is on my Tribler share and I use all the defaults for Tribler.
So this alert had nothing to do with streaming movies from a site. Somehow they detected my Tribler share!

Someone in an older thread pointed out that Tribler doesn’t currently protect your metadata, which explains how they’re even able to find out you’re torrenting files.
