Hi,
My feedback:
1. There's no save button in settings / I have to press enter in order to save it up. Pretty unusual.
2. It woud be great if there is a connection set up after first start - refer to utorrent for refference.
3. There's no way to change order of search results / also the search is pretty shitty where am I searching?
4. I wasn't able to download anything even thought I have configured proper port... /f*** slow/ How about predefining sevaral special files that are well seeded so anyone can see the concept working?
5. Where is the uploading status bar? I can only see I am receiving.
6. Also is there a way to configure buffering - its pretty anoying to watch movie and wait for buffering:)
7. What is the seeders/leachers ratio in search results - It would be easyier to pick up the right torrent, this way download may never be finished...
8. It crashed with "tribler.exe has encoutered a problem and need to close" (libfmpeg_plugin.dll)

Over all - lot to do:) I would use it if its built into utorrent client or something like that, don't need new torrent client.

Tester
whatever

Hi i thought it as good, it was downloading at about 100kbs so not bad at all there.

Only downside so far is your lacking on content - i search for the simpsons and trailer park boys and didn't get alot on either.

Still keep up the good work, Its great to see P2P evolving again :D

You should be able to edit if you register yourself at the forum.
Many people have the same IP address (corperate ip for instance),
they should not be able to edit each others posts.

You can go to fullscreen, just double click the video window.

Because you can't know for sure if a torrent if fake or not... how about you rate it...or comment it.
This way others will know if it's fake or not...

A secure chat option like in oneswarm would be nice... ( with friends ).

1epi wrote:1. if i have a subtitle to the movie, how can i add it ?

You can't. We are working on a distributed way to add metadata (picturtes, comments, votes, -and- subtitles) but this is scheduled for a later release. The easy solution, just adding it to the existing shared data, is impossible because that would change the id, or infohash, of the torrent.

If you want to play a torrent with a seperately downloaded subtitle you can first completely download it and then start a remote player.

1epi wrote:2. i need to move the files that i downloaded, how can i do that and keep seeding ?

That is a tricky problem. For this release we wanted to keep it simple. Even though it is a basic functionality, we are not providing buttens such as 'save as' because we could also do without... for a simple user. As to answer your question, the only option right now would be to either change the download directory (still all files will be dumped in one place) or to copy the file (cause duplicates on your disk)

1epi wrote:3. how can i see how many people are identified by DHT ?

You can't see that. We hide this information out of simplicity. Otherwise we would have to explain to a torrent newbie what DHT is, why we have it, etc.

1epi wrote:4. can't you put a RC4/SSL encryption ? (at least for friends..)

We could, although it is not yet on our todo list. We do have some related plans for protecting the identity of up- and downloading peers. But this is very tricky because we don't want to make it easier to anonymously share certain files.

1epi wrote:5. isn't it possible to connect to a distributed message board ?

Yes, that would also be a possible feature. But again we have the choice between a simple client with few features ... or a more complicated client with tons of features. The solution to this problem, we believe, are widgets or addons. A distributed message board, team speak, instant messages, etc could easilly be build on top of Tribler as the communication infrastructure is already there.

Being a research group, we have some people working on this. There are still some problems to solve before we can get this into production though. (security, distribution, etc.)

The new 5.0 is still in testing phase, thanks to you guy's we can probably fix some issues, tweak some things and then make a full release. Then we will replace the stable 4.5.2 with the new stable 5.0.

1epi wrote:btw are the movie names copyrighted ? or the torrent names ? if not, why did you edit xavi's post ?

Displaying movie names is probably legal, you could even consider it an advertisement. However, given the context (axxo, bittorrent) it goes into a grey zone, at least in my opinion.

You can... although it may not be clear at fist, something we should apparent change. You can type any value in the text area and hit 'Enter'.

isn't it possible to make a default "simple mode" and a "advanced mode" ?
ps : i hate simple mode :)) can't stand the fact that i can't *fully* control my client...so i need an advanced mode...

Yep, that sure is possible and even likely to happen!
We just didn't want to put to much new stuff in this release.
We will more regularly bring out new versions, slowly expanding the complexity of the client.
We just have to remain cautious that we do not divert from the simplicity (and that is going to be a challenge)

Tribler is a brilliant project! Glad it's available, but please, please!, stick to general user interface conventions! Below you can see what happens on my mac. The interface is windowless, so I can't move the interface. Now my dock covers an important part of the interface and I can't do much about it. Why is it windowless, who benefits? Please fix this asap for I cannot properly use it now...

what the hell, suddenly the interface IS contained within a window. BLUH, I guess this is a bug. Luckily it's one of those "good" bugs - those that fix themselves... :)

somehow Tribler refuses to save the files in the location I specified, it keeps downloading to the desktop/TriblerDownloads. Running on Mac OS X 10.5.6

Yes, spam prevention is high on our roadmap: http://www.Tribler.org/roadmap.
We will do a test soon requesting people to vote on a trusted Tribler "moderator".

Chat is interesting & highly desired, but difficult for us to do without servers.
We prefer not to "cheat" with central Google Chat servers like OneSwarm.
It should be fully self-organising.

Absolutely brilliant. The first thing I downloaded (and HD rip of the newest office episode) came up with no hassle. I was actually shocked at how great it was. Now the real question is, what kind of private tracker support will you guys be implementing. And could this possibly be used as a charge service for the digital distribution of high quality cable and satellite channels. Keep up the good work guys, I can't wait to see where this is going.
