Sound problem in SwarmPlugin

Postby giorgio » Thu Oct 22, 2009 7:46 am

Hi!

I'm testing SwarmPlugin for several days, and have noticed, that nearly half of video torrents are playing without sound. Where can be the problem? Is there some audio formats, which SwarmPlugin doesn't support? :geek:

Thanks a lot!

I've downloaded SwarmPlugin_1.0.1.exe . Is this latest? I've noticed, that there is no sound if video has AC3 audio codec... if there mp3 - everything ok.

If i have old version, maybe someone can give me latest one? :)

Thanks for letting as notice.. it seams like a problem related with VLC.
Are you getting the same problem if you play the file once downloaded directly with VLC?

Please give us info so that we can try to solve it ;)

No. In simple VLC player (vlc-1.0.0) everything is fine (with the same video).

Than it probably depends on how VLC reads the index of the AC3 codec..

I'll look into it next week ;)

Sorry guys but it seams I cannot replicate the problem.

I created my selft 4 different AC3 audio streams encoded in several ways and different extentions.
It works very good for me with three different versions of the swarmplayer.

Can you give me more info to replicate the error?

So... i'm using SwarmPlugin 1.0.1, in firefox i've created html code in which i'm trying to play .torrent file.

Video Parameters:

Video Codec: XviD
Audio Codec: AC3
Video: 704x288 (2.44:1), 25 fps XviD Final 1.0.2 (build 36), 1668 kbps avg, 0.33 bit/pixel
Audio: 48 kHz, AC3 Dolby Digital, 3/2 (L,C,R,l,r) + LFE ch, 384.00 kbps avg

Maybe the problem is that there is more than 2 audio channels? But still... in VLC everything is fine.

mm, I don't know what to tell you.

On my machine it works very well.. but I work only with Linux.
I'll try to install it in a virtual machine and see if I get some error on windows

As a proof I can tell you it's in Russian or some similar language 8-)

Yes,this is russian. :) But still... where can be problem? I've tried on different machines (all with Windows XP, one with Wndows 7) - same thing. If video with mp3 codec - everything is perfectly! Please try on Windows... it would be really interesting...

P.S. I'm using this Plugin : trial.p2p-next.org/Beta/SwarmPlugin_1.0.1.exe

Yep, apparently you are right.

I tested the plugin and it has this strange problem that with the normal swarmplugin does not occur.
I'll have to wait for the plugin developer to be back and ask his what could be the cause!

I'll let you know as soon as it's fixed

Super! But what you mean by "with the normal swarmplugin does not occur"? You have some normal(old) version which is working with AC3 in Windows?! If so, maybe you can give me a link? :)

Hi there,

Sorry typing error
I mean the normal Swarmplayer.
The swarmplayer is just the player we use in Tribler.
It can also be started seeparatly from the Tribler GUI trial.p2p-next.org/

As you was when you downloaded it the Swarmplugin is still in Beta and works
only on windows. What seams strange to me is the facts the they should behave in the same way
(plugin and player) while I get the problem with AC3 audio only on the plugin.
